Track work up for grabs on Nexus Tyne & Wear Metro
Track renewal works are amongst the civils contracts up for grabs as Nexus issues its latest contract tender for work on its Tyne & Wear Metro lines.
The contract will focus on certain track assets between Gateshead Stadium and Felling Stations that have been identified as being non-compliant installations or at the end of their life expectancy.
Four main areas of plain line track require renewal. These sites are located between the tunnel portal in Gateshead adjacent to Gateshead Stadium Station and Felling Station.
Works are scheduled to take place in the early stages of financial year 2019-20. The work includes renewal of rails, sleepers, ancillary items and ballast, as well as the installation of a geotextile membrane.
The installation of new six-hold glued IBJs and additional removal and replacement with new — including rails — replacement of pandrol clips, insulators, and railpads are also included in the work.
The contract is not divided into lots, and will be contracted under the NEC3 2013 form of contracts.
