From "Birds Eye" aerial mapping from a famous search engine, it would appear that there's a second, unused bridge arch alongside the low-level track (which would be where the tree is artistically shown). I'm presuming this will remain, giving future access to a second platform for the Cotswold line if it's ever doubled...

It would be absolute stupidity if passive provision was not made at the new station for a second North Cotswold Line platform. Can anyone confirm?

Surly there must be a way to build a 2nd track on the North Cotswold line that could be on the planning application as the new Worcestershire Parkway railway station is on outskirts of Worcester City Centre near to the Junction 7 M5 motorway. Plus the could of been renamed as Worcester Parkway as it will serve not just the Worcester suburbs but also the M5 motorway with a new P&R and nearby villages such as Norton that will have a new railway station being built instead of commuting into Worcester City Centre and to use the 2 Worcester main railway stations-Foregate Street and Shrub Hill that serves the City of Worcester and Worcestershire. Network Rail could of double the North Cotswolds Line if the new railway station is planned to be built.

Doubling of the Cotswold Line is a priority in the Worcestershire County Council Local Transport Plan and the planning consent was given on the basis that there is provision made for double tracking on the high level station.

GWR (Great Western Railway) and Network Rail will be managing the new Worcestershire Parkway railway station and will provide train services to/from Worcester Shrub Hill and Foregate Street and to provide a interchange with Crosscountry trains operating services to Cornwall, Cardiff Central, Exeter St. Davids and Bristol Parkway/Temple Meads to/from Birmingham New Street/Moor Street, Manchester Piccadilly and the North of England and GWR trains that currently operates services to/from London Paddington, Oxford and Hereford will also serve the new station once the new railway station is completed sometime late this year or early next year. Plus there will also be local bus connection not just to Worcester City Centre but to provide local bus services to nearby villages on the outskirts of Worcester such as including Norton and Warndon villages. There could also be a Park & Ride facility as the new railway station is near to Junction 7 (M5 Motorway) and also it will serve the nearest hospital-Worcester Royal Hospital.

And yes Network Rail should also consider installing a new track on the North Cotswold Line at Worcestershire Parkway station with a new platform added to improve better services on the line once its a double track railway line.

If the new station on the outskirts of Worcester does get the approval and is likely to start construction. Can Network Rail consider adding a 2nd railway track on the North Cotswolds Line so that trains can use the line once it's doubled, and also to improve reliability and to reduce delays if the North Cotswolds Line does become a double track main line from Worcester to Banbury, Oxford and beyond. GWR, Crosscountry and possibly London Midland trains will soon serve the new Worcestershire Parkway railway station. And it will help to benefit a much better and easier regional interchange railway station from the North, South, West and East once the new railway station is completed and is due to be opened some time later this year. If it does finish on time, ready for opening.
