Time well spent
Yesterday’s announcement of the raft of improvement measures being implemented to improve services in South Wales, through new signalling, track, station upgrades and the rest of it, is another reminder that real investment is taking place on our railways – and not just in London.
The investment creates a virtuous circle, too – better services help attract more passengers, which mean more investment to cope with them. It’s all more money: but more people using the railways makes them politically more important, on top of the direct contribution they make in fares.
