Google Street View captures images from major train stations
Network Rail has allowed the Google Street View team into some of its biggest stations to add them to the online application, to aid visitors to the stations find their way around.
Over the past fortnight, the ‘Google Trolley’ has captured images of the concourses of 13 stations including London Liverpool Street, Manchester Piccadilly and Leeds.
These will soon be viewable as a 360-degree panorama, as with the streets and roads covered by the system.
Robin Gisby, Network Rail’s managing director, network operations said: “Millions of people use our stations and they don’t just pass through. People shop in stations; they meet their families and friends, use the cash points and grab a bite or a drink. To make all this easier you’ll soon be able to use Google Street View to find your way around before you set off.”
The following stations have been ‘captured’: Cannon Street; Charing Cross; Edinburgh Waverley; Euston; Fenchurch Street; Glasgow Central; Leeds; Liverpool Lime Street; London Bridge; London Liverpool Street; London Victoria; Manchester Piccadilly; and Paddington. More will soon follow.
