Underneath the arches with Jarvis Plant

With its distinctive 36 arches, Almond Valley viaduct is a local landmark in Broxburn, West Lothian. Built in the 1860’s, renovating the sandstone damaged by erosion underneath the arches was a daunting prospect for Mowlem, who were awarded the six month contract.
Jarvie Plant of Grangemouth provided a cost effective solution combining safety and timesaving: two MRT Maniscopic models (MRT2150 and MRT2540). The 360 degree rotary machines were equipped with a fully extendable work platform for three persons (plus hand held tools) to full working height of 21metre and 25metre. With a rotating head enabling the swivelling of the basket to assist in providing full access to even the most difficult areas, the MRT Maniscopics were a more flexible and economical alternative to scaffolding, ensuring the Edinburgh to Falkirk line keeps on running. The MRT Maniscopics were supplied to Jarvie Plant by Wm.Rose + Sons Ltd of West Linton
