Moylan’s new challenge
Crossrail 2 has some influential business and political backing, and usefully, a safeguarded route.
Of course, the project would have plenty of national hurdles to clear, and would face criticism from many in other parts of England and the UK who already question the massive imbalance in transport infrastructure funding between the capital and the rest.
The scheme’s new champion is Daniel Moylan, whom London’s mayor Boris Johnson has ‘reassigned’ following his failure to convince the world of the need for a new Estuary Airport (‘Boris Island’).
Hopefully Moylan – “astute and tenacious”, according to Boris – has more luck with Crossrail 2.
