The future is green
There was good news for Welsh rail jobs yesterday as the Liberal Democrats announced that they would move funding from roads to rail in an effort to make Wales transport more green.
Even though all political announcements should be taken with a fairly large pinch of salt, this latest championing of rail as a green industry of the future is the sign of things to come.
Britain will need to deliver carbon reduction savings in the future and an increase in rail use is a very good way to do that, whilst providing rail jobs at a time when the country needs to increase its productivity.
Of course this increase in rail jobs wont just happen on its own; people need to let the government know that rail is our future, because politicians only act when they think an issue is a vote winner.
This means the rail industry has to strive to provide better services, so that more passengers realise what a convenient, environmentally friendly way to travel the rail industry offers.
