Louise Ellman MP has called for Government to publish the amount it will cost to extend a number of franchises before re-letting them for longer contracts.
But the cost of rushing major franchises could be far greater, as the WCML debacle demonstrated last year.
Could the DfT provide transparency whilst maintaining the need to take the time to let these contracts properly, accurately assessing different bidders to come to a value for money solution that benefits the passenger?
