The benefits of biomass
GBRf has warned of the damage biomass access charges could inflict on the industry, as well as the UK’s carbon reduction efforts.
Implementing charges before the market is mature will cost freight and potentially jeopardise biomass conversion projects. Biomass is an emerging fuel, and its use will largely be determined by how easily and cheaply it can be transported.
Placing blocks into the logistics of this operation could also set the nation’s sustainability agenda back. We should be encouraging and supporting both this type of fuel and transport, not making it less viable.
