Network Rail has published more transparency data today, accelerating its aim to become more accountable for spending.
It is a good example for the rest of the industry, and could set a precedent for the supply chain to become more open about their business.
Publishing data on expenditure, workforce headcounts, and payment performance, will help the company to highlight where greater savings could be made, and to really justify every penny spent.
The rail industry is inefficient. But there are steps we can take to improve this and knowing exactly what you are spending and where is a sensible first move.
