Network Rail announces final CP6 multimillion-pound contract winners for rail projects in Scotland and North East
Network Rail has announced the winners of its final major multimillion-pound contracts for CP6, worth a total of £470m.
Following on for the previous CP6 contracts awarded by Network Rail at the end of last year, worth several billion pounds, BAM Nuttall have been picked to deliver renewals and enhancement work for Scotland and North East (SNE), valued at £320m.
The work will be carried out during the five-year period of Control Period 6, and the framework will complete a range of projects including replacing and refurbishing structures across the route and delivering improvements at stations.
Two Geotech frameworks worth a combined £147m have also been awarded, with Story Contracting for London North East and QTS for Scotland winning the contracts.
At the end of 2018, BAM Nuttall won another CP6 contract for upgrades in the south east, worth nearly £2bn; and Story Contracting also won a contract to deliver renewals and upgrades in Scotland worth £135m.
Network Rail said today’s contract announcements complete the procurement activity for Scotland and North East which it says will hold one of the largest work-banks for the coming five-year funding period, with the five-year contracts coming with the option of two-year extensions.
Kris Kinnear, the interim regional director for SNE, commented: “Work to renew our infrastructure is increasingly important to improve reliability for our passengers, and making sure we have the right suppliers to deliver those improvements is paramount.
