One Big Circle achieves prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation

One Big Circle is one of 252 organisations nationally to be recognised with a prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise. Announced today (Monday 6 May), One Big Circle has been recognised for its excellence in Innovation through the UK’s highest official awards programme.

Based next to Bristol Temple Meads station, One Big Circle was founded in 2017 by four founders, Emily Kent, Barnaby Kent, Ian Packer, and Sam Low, and specialises in Intelligent Video. OBC received the Kings Award for Enterprise for their innovation within the Rail Industry for their ground-breaking AIVR technology, developed for safe and remote condition monitoring for critical national infrastructure.

AIVR (Automated Intelligent Video Review) is deployed across the UK railway by Network Rail, Transport for Wales and multiple operators. It captures high definition imagery from Forward Facing Video, Thermal, Line-scanning and Overhead sensors, transmitting the data automatically, whilst applying Machine Learning and integrating with other data types and platforms.

Thousands of users from multiple disciplines now access the data and intelligence, using the AIVR platform and digital tools to help them increase their remote inspection capability, ultimately helping the railway run more smoothly and increasing worker safety.

Emily Kent, Co-Founder commented, “It is a momentous achievement to be awarded the accolade of King’s Award for Enterprise and is a fantastic reflection on the team who have worked so hard on delivering innovation with and for the UK Rail Industry. From our first deployment just before the pandemic, to now being a trusted partner of the industry delivering a high level of data service every day it is a real demonstration of innovation, and a great example of what can be achieved through collaboration”.
