Cant Rail Protection System

First Group have taken the initiative of installing the new revolutionary “Cant Rail Protection System” designed and fitted by Executive Security into their Pollock Shields depot with Hornsey and Bedford system being fitted over the next few weeks.

The revolutionary “Cant Rail Protection System” has been designed by Executive Security to protect maintenance workers from electrocution by inadvertently accessing the roof of the train in the maintenance bay when the over head power is turned on.

The system works by incorporating a series of active infra-red beams located to pass a network of invisible beams down the side of the train just above the cant rail level. If the beam is broken the system is triggered. Also the use of beam networks helps prevent birds from triggering the system. Once the system has been triggered, a set of red strobe lights flash at each end of the side of the train that has been violated, a motor driven siren sounds at each end of the violated road and a text message is sent to a mobile phone giving full details of the incident. To make things even simpler, the system is automatically armed and disarmed from the castellated key switched used in the process of turning the overhead power on and off.
