Transport for Scotland seem close to rejecting plans to build a rail station in a town in the south of Scotland.
However the developers who put forward the plans have said that the plans, which also included new houses, would have been ‘extremely beneficial’ to the community.
According to reports from the BBC, town planners have rejected the plans because of other aspects of the development, such as density of housing. The plans would have seen an old auction mart be turned into the new rail station.
The addition of a new rail station could also have slowed journey times on the line, according to Network Rail.
