Rail experts needed urgently… by the Government!
Users of rtmjobs.com will be pleased to hear that the Department for Transport has been desperately searching for some rail industry experts.
However, these rail vacancies are not exactly you’re average kind of rail job; the chosen candidates will be brought in to help the government run failed rail franchises.
After the shambles which occurred over the East Coast Mainline franchise, ministers are now readying themselves for other franchises to go under.
The DfT put out a tender earlier this month, looking for a suitable consultancy firm who could ‘take over the running of the TOC if required'; a high pressure rail job if I ever I saw one!
A DfT spokesman commented: “We retain a consultant to help with operator of last resort at all times. This is just renewing the contract.”
However rail experts have said that there could be a need for more experienced consultancies to take over as there is now a risk that other rail franchises could fail in the wake of the East Coast Mainline fiasco.
Now there is a rail job that you don’t see very often!
