TfL seeks bidders for Bakerloo & Central line passenger information systems

Transport for London (TfL) is offering a contract to install real-time passenger information systems (PIS) on London Underground’s Bakerloo and Central line trains.

The final value of the contract is not yet known, but is open to bidders until 21 December.

Bidders are being sought to design, manufacture and supply (PIS) for the 72TS (Bakerloo Line) trains and 92TS (Central Line) trains. The 72TS of the Bakerloo Line consists of 36 No 7 car trains, and the 92TS of the Central Line consists of 85 No 8 car trains. However, installation does not form part of this call for tender.

Real-time passenger information systems are a key feature of GTR’s new fleet of Class 700 Desiro City trains, which have now begun to enter service before a full roll-out by 2018.

TfL recently announced that it will take maintenance services on the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines back in-house as part of efforts to improve its finances after it was found that the contract with Amey offered poor value for money.

Good idea this is. Because it would tell that passengers that the destination the trains as its terminating at the destination which is at the end of the line and the next station/next stop is and also can tell passengers that if there are any other delays to other trains or if the train is delayed or experiencing problems like train fault or someone taken ill or something serious then it will notify passengers. PIS (Passenger Information System) is a step forward for transportation which is used not just in the UK but across the world in different languages (not just English but also in French, Dutch, Belgium, German, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Danish, Swedish, Spanish and other languages). PIS display screen is also used on Trams, DLR/Light Rail, Buses and could also be used on Taxis as well.
