Fastline Freight launches second service to Midlands

Fastline Freight has extended its service with the introduction of a new route between Thamesport and the Midlands, complementing its existing service to the North East.

The additional service comes just weeks after Fastline Freight announced it would include extra wagons on its North East service, and is a direct response to customer demand. The first commercial run on this route was on 16 August.

The company will now operate a service five days a week using its three Class 56 locomotives. Return trains will run between Thamesport and the new Birmingham Intermodal Freight Terminal, at Birch Coppice Business Park and between Thamesport and the North East, via Doncaster Railport.

Stephen Haynes. Fastline’s director of logistics, said, “Fastline Freight is focused on delivering a high quality, reliable and efficient service that meets the needs of its customers.

“Having only launched the service in June, we are working closely with our existing customers to ensure we provide the range of services they require.

“The addition of the Midlands route and the extra wagons demonstrates out commitment to providing a door-to-door service that is a reliable alternative to road haulage.”

Situated alongside the M42, near Tamworth, the new Birmingham Intermodal Freight Terminal is an ideal location from which to organise onward transportation for its containers.
