It will cut journey times by about 5 minutes with the new light rail transit to be built that will connect Luton Airport Parkway railway station and London Luton Airport main terminal which would end the shuttle buses as it takes around 8-10 minutes as the traffic on the A1081 and the approach to the the airport's main terminal gets very congested so yes a new light rail system that is to be built and will take 4 years to be constructed that will improve better journey times to catch a flight from train-transit-air within minutes from the Parkway railway station to the main terminal at London Luton Airport.

Very good idea,it will attract more airlines to the airport and make the journey much more comfortable for passengers.But what the airport really needs is air bridges from the gates to the aircraft,then the airport will then be up there with the other London airports.

Trams would attract even more if they ran to Cheddington (Euston Line) and Hitchin (Kings Cross Line), such a link would seriously reduce congestion and assist with Polution Reduction as well. JonD

There is actually a closed railway line which ran from Hatfield (Kings Cross line) via Luton & Dunstable to Leighton Buzzard (Euston line). This passed right next to Luton Airport Parkway station. A lot of redevelopment along the route means it's unlikely to reopen, ever, but think how useful it would be.
