HS2 to engage with Phase 2b route communities
HS2 Ltd. is to hold community events along the Phase 2b route.
Teams from the company will visit 30 locations along the government’s preferred route, which was announced in July 2017, to engage with the public and discuss the progress of the project.
Representatives between the West Midlands, Leeds, Crewe and Manchester will answer questions on a range of topics including engineering plans, environmental mitigation and the impacts on land and property.
Members of the public are being encouraged to attend to enable them to review the plans and discuss the emerging designs and understand what this means for them.
Paul Griffiths, HS2 Ltd’s Phase Two director, said that the benefits that HS2 will deliver are significant and should not be underestimated.
“The new railway will play a crucial role in rebalancing Britain’s economy; driving business growth, creating jobs and securing investment right across the country,” he added.
Explaining the community events, he said: “Understandably, people have questions and concerns about the construction and operation of the railway, and how it will affect them.
“These events present an ideal opportunity to talk to us about the project and find out more information.”
Later this year, a public consultation on HS2 Ltd’s draft environmental statement and proposals to minimise the railway’s potential impacts will be held.
