Release of Engineering Base version 3
Aucotec Ltd. are pleased to announce the release of version 3 of their Engineering Base electrical engineering design software based on Microsoft Visio and SQL data server. It is an easy to use, but powerful solution to electrical engineering design making it ideal for designing new projects, or for documenting maintenance changes.
It is not necessary for users to be trained CAD engineers, as it is based around familiar Microsoft products, vastly increasing its potential scope for implementation. For example, service engineers and maintenance engineers are typical engineering base users.
It is much more than a drawing package, being capable of creating worksheets such as bill of material, cabling schedules, IO lists, and terminal diagrams, making it an ideal project engineering solution. Typical cell drag functionality enables a series of devices, potentials, wire numbers and pin numbers to be quickly renamed for different projects with the drawings automatically being updated from the database.
New features of version 3 include auto signal tagging and numbering, quick text look up using dictionaries, user management with different access level permissions, data export to terminal layout programs, import of functions, locations, potentials, wires and signals from Excel. In most organisations, engineering base can justify its purchase on the grounds of time savings, large productivity gains, and quality of documentation. It can be evaluated free of charge with a 60 day free trial version available.
