Sustainability conference to focus on skills and safety
A conference next month will examine the safety and sustainability of the rail network.
The ‘Sustainability in Rail Tuesday October 29 is being held at Pera Conference Centre in Melton Mowbray, LE13 0PB.
The event will open with a keynote speech from Chris Leech, corporate adviser for the transport sector at BITC (Business in the Community), followed by workshops on skills and training, collaborative working, winning bids, and the deployment of new technology.
Chris Leech MBE said: “The Transport sector is the ‘engine room’ for UK economic recovery and therefore it is crucial that topics such as the skills gap, addressing bid management, and delivering the vision of the Future Railway are crucial if the rail sector is going to progress as required.
“There is now a major opportunity to build on the achievements to date, strategically consolidating approaches and at the same time ensure, activities are focused where there is greatest potential for positive business and social impact as we move forward. Collaboration and shared vision and values is key to our success and therefore I would encourage industry leaders to attend this event, to stay at the forefront of the discussion.”
The event is being hosted in partnership with Rail Champions
Andy Dean of Pera Technology said: “We’re hoping that the networking section of the day will provide a rare opportunity to share best practise and pose some solutions to industry-wide challenges.”
