£100m contracts to build Luton airport link advertised
Contracts worth between £100m and £200m to build the light rail link between Luton Airport Parkway station and London Luton Airport, including driverless rolling stock, are being advertised.
Luton Borough Council confirmed last week that the project, which will be 1.2 miles long and run 24 hours a day, is set to go ahead.
They have now published prior notice of the contracts, which are not yet open for bidding.
The first is to design and build the mass passenger transit system and the second is to design and build driverless rolling stock.
Driverless trains are also going to be introduced on Glasgow’s subway system.
Work on the Luton link is scheduled to start on 10 July 2017 and finish by 28 July 2020.
