£250m track contract up for grabs for Tube track maintenance

Transport for London is inviting firms to bid for the four-year £250m delivery of track renewals for its Underground network, starting in 2019.

The work includes surface and sub-surface ballasted track renewals, crossing renewals and track drainage, and has the option to be extended for six years.

Balfour Beatty Rail has provided the service for TfL since being appointed in 2010, but now the authority is aiming to shortlist around five firms to work with their track programme team.

Balfour Beatty has won several contracts in recent months, including a £115m track deal with Northern Rail and a £50m contract with Greater Western line maintenance.

Firms have until 19 June to apply. The shortlisted bidder will be decided upon by the start of August.
