Custom House shortlist announced
Crossrail has confirmed the shortlist for C520 Custom House station, with the main construction contract worth an estimated £35m.
The four organisations which performed strongly at pre-qualification stage and so form the shortlist are; Laing O'Rourke Construction Limited; Hochtief UK Construction Limited and Hochtief Solutions AG JV; Costain Limited; and Geoffrey Osbourne Limited.
The new East London station will be the only above-ground station within Crossrail’s central section. The works will assist with regeneration of the Royal Docks and will improve links between the city centre and the ExCel exhibition centre.
The new Crossrail station will be built on the site of the former North London Line station which closed to passengers in December 2006. It will include a new ticket hall, interchange with Docklands Light Railway (DLR) and step-free access between the street and Crossrail platforms.
The contract for Custom House station will be awarded later this year. Construction will begin in early 2013 with the station completed in 2018.
