Assembled connectors now available in 48 hours

Franchised assembling distributor PEI-Genesis, working in close co-operation with connector manufacturer ITT Interconnect Solutions, is now offering ITT’s renowned VEAM CIR and VBN series of rail industry connectors with an unrivalled 48 hour assembly service. In addition, ITT’s Trident Multiway series of rugged rack-and-panel connectors, which are widely used in railway trackside signalling equipment, are available exclusively from PEI-Genesis.

Designed specifically for the hostile environment of rail industry applications, the VEAM CIR and VBN series can be configured to function as electrical, optical or pneumatic connectors and therefore simplify the design process as well as reducing product inventories. These versatile connectors are also available in high voltage, twin or tri-axial, hermetic and EMC versions.

PEI-Genesis achieves its market leading 48 hour service by carrying large stocks of piece parts and using in-house developed machines to automate the connector assembly process.

The availability of the VEAM CIR and VBN connectors from PEI-Genesis means that engineers and buyers in the rail sector will now be able to obtain the exact connector for their requirement in the shortest possible time and without the burden of minimum order quantities; PEI-Genesis will happily supply just one connector if that is all the customer needs.

The basic design parameters of the VEAM CIR and VBN series were derived from the MIL-C-5015 military specification and enhanced by the addition of a positive-lock/quick-disconnect bayonet coupling mechanism. High shock and vibration resistance is achieved without the need for lock wires and the connectors are rated for a minimum of 2000 couplings.

They are available in an enormous range of styles, shell sizes and contact arrangements and can be supplied in a wide variety of materials and finishes to suit the demands of each particular application.

The connectors can also be specified with various inserts to meet low-smoke/zero-halogen requirements and provide superior resistance to fuel oils, solvents and elevated temperatures.

ITT’s Trident Multiway series of rack-and-panel connectors are a popular choice for use in trackside signalling equipment as they offer an extremely reliable, robust and versatile connector system.

These connectors come in a choice of six planforms from 14-way to 75-way, can accommodate crimp, solder or wire-wrap contacts and are available with a range of accessories including various styles of hood and straight or 90-degree cable clamps.
Especially popular for cold weather applications, Trident Multiway connectors can be equipped with large jackscrew knobs and feature an operating temperature range of –55 to 125degC.

They have a minimum insulation resistance of 5000Mohm at 500VDC, and, if required, can be specified with polarisation using contact position, pin protection shrouds or additional guide pin and socket sets.
