Avanti West Coast model train set to be auctioned for children’s charity
To raise money for children’s charity, Action for Children, the very first Hornby Avanti West Coast Pendolino is set to be auctioned off and expected to rise hundreds of pounds.
Model train enthusiasts have their chance to bid for the Class 390 model Pendolino of a leading carriage and one trailer carriage, mounted on a wooden plinth, through an online auction on eBay.
The auction is currently live, with the opening price set a £249.99, and set to run until February 7, 2020.
The model sports the new livery which is being rolled out gradually on trains across the Avanti West Coast network and Hornby are taking pre-orders for the model versions, which are expected to be available from December 2020.
Action for Children, which provides mental health support for vulnerable and disadvantaged children across the UK, is the employee-chosen charity of Avanti West Coast’s co-owner FirstGroup and proceeds from the sale will go towards their partnership.
