Case for Crossrail 2 to be examined by London Assembly committee

The London Assembly Transport Committee is investigating the case for building Crossrail 2 today, and will question some of the key figures behind the project.

Its backers say it will be vital to support overcrowding and rising demand in London. But the committee will examine whether it is the best value option for the taxpayer and whether it can provide a strong boost to regeneration of the poorest parts of the city.

The committee will question Lord Andrew Adonis, Chair, London First’s Crossrail 2 Task Force; Cllr Nilgun Canver, Vice Chair, London Councils Transport and Environment Committee; Michèle Dix, Managing Director, Planning, Transport for London (TfL); Paul Harwood, Principal Network Planner, Network Rail; Professor David Metz, Visiting Lecturer, Centre for Transport Studies, University College London; and Dominic Millen, Transport Partnership Manager and West Anglia Routes Group Coordinator, North London Strategic Alliance.

Evidence will be published at here following the session.
