DRS orders seven more Class 68 locos

Direct Rail Services (DRS) has ordered seven more Class 68 locomotives from Vossloh España, taking the operator’s fleet to 32 vehicles.

DRS received the first 15 Class 68 vehicles, based on Vossloh’s EUROLIGHT platform last year for passenger and freight services.

The 10 locomotives in this second order will be delivered over the coming months.

Ted Gaffney, CEO of Beacon Rail Leasing, which is acquiring the new vehicles, added that the acquisition of the locomotives allows “us to continue to grow and to support the needs of our customer and the UK rail market”.

Iñigo Parra, CEO Vossloh España, said: “This third contract will bring DRS’ fleet of UKLIGHT locomotives to 32 units as it impressively proves the high trust of DRS and Beacon Rail Leasing into Vossloh.”
