Grand Central moves in with Network Rail and Northern
Grand Central Railway Company has relocated its head office into the same building as Northern Rail and Network Rail in York.
The open access operator, which operates trains between London and the north of England, has moved to a 5,844sqft office space in Northern House near York Station.
Mark Robinson, finance director at Grand Central, said: “When our current lease came to an end it was vital that we move to modern office premises in the centre of York. Northern House is the perfect location, giving us easy access to both the railway station and our industry partners such as Network Rail and Northern.”
Grand Central, part of the Arriva group, has relocated from River House, also in York, where it had been situated for eight years.
Last month the company was recognised as the highest-rated long distance train operator for customer satisfaction in Britain, with 94% of its passengers happy with its services.
It also topped the charts with 96% of its passengers satisfied with the service’s punctuality and value for money.
Its West Yorkshire service connects Bradford, Halifax, Brighouse, Mirfield, Wakefield, Pontefract and Doncaster with London King’s Cross, and it also runs a North Eastern service from London to Sunderland via Hartlepool, Eaglescliffe, Northallerton, Thirsk and York.
