HS2 judicial review decisions due Friday

Campaigners seeking to stop HS2 in its tracks will find out on Friday whether they have been successful.

The results of the five judicial reviews, evidence on which was taken in December, is expected to be announced in the High Court in London on Friday morning.

During those evidence sessions, Rupert Warren QC said there were “calamitous errors” made in the DfT’s consultation process – more than enough to force it to be halted.

The reviews are being brought by councils, campaign groups, businesses and others opposed to the principle of the line, or its route, including Heathrow Hub and Aylesbury Golf Club.

So far HS2 has spent almost a quarter of a billion pounds on engineers, PR firms, property agents and market researchers. Now they are creating another think tank the "Efficiency Challenge group" and we hear that £16.8m has been even been paid to Fujitsu for HS2's IT system, the same company that was responsible for the NHS computer system fiasco and sacked for "non-performance". Does this inspire you with confidence? Me neither and nor does the imminent judicial review announcement! I would love to be proven wrong, but is it likely... honestly?
