Laserclean brings new light to Glasgow Central

Glasgow Central has been transformed to a brighter, lighter station by Laserclean, who have successfully removed years of atmospheric dirt and moss from the 1.4 square miles of glass forming the roof.

“The project was not without its challenges,” says managing director Norman Howison. “We did not expect to have to work round the dramatic drop in water pressure twice daily, when the Inter City trains filled their tanks and the high winds limited our access to the roof. However, at Laserclean we are experts in finding a solution to cleaning difficult areas and we are proud to have produced such a great result within budget.”

Laserclean are no strangers to working in stations and worked throughout the night, for two weeks, to clean the staining from the Balmoral Wall at Waverly Station in Edinburgh in preparation for the opening of the new platform.

Laserclean’s commitment to health and safety means that they are well equipped to work safely within the stringent requirements and their ongoing commitment to training is reflected in their Investors in People accreditation.

Laserclean are a leading specialist in the cleaning and protection of historic buildings using sympathetic processes and are proud to have successfully restored the interior stone work of Kelvingrove Art Gallery in Glasgow. Laserclean employs many specialized techniques to effectively clean a variety of surfaces including glass, metal, stone and brick and are often commissioned to work on projects funded by Historic Scotland.

Laserclean are also specialists in graffiti removal and the application of protective coatings. The processes used by Laserclean are environmentally sensitive and highly effective which has resulted in Laserclean having maintenance contracts with many blue chip companies.
