Mace and Dragados sign £1.3bn HS2 contract to construct Euston station
Mace and Dragados has signed a £1.3bn contract with HS2 over the construction of Euston station, ending speculation of a legal challenge from rival bidders who lost out on the contract.
The announcement comes just over a month after HS2 revealed the construction teams that had won the contracts to deliver the London Euston Terminus and the super-hub Old Oak Common Station, with Mace/Dragados winning the former.
Balfour Beatty and Vinci Constructions won the contract for Old Oak Common, but earlier this month Bechtel sued HS2 over its handling of the tender process.
The American engineering firm had lost out in its bid for the £1bn contract, but lodged a High Court claim over the construction of the west London station claiming its procurement process was unfair.
At least two rival bidders for the Euston contract were reported to have been considering a legal challenge, but no further action has been made.
Mace and Dragados have today signed contracts to deliver the project’s Euston terminus.

The appointment brings an end to a 19-month procurement process, with the joint venture joining the existing early works contractor at Euston, a Costain/Skanska joint venture.
