Network Rail announces appointment of new non-executive director
Network Rail has today appointed a new non-executive director. Mike Putnam will replace Malcolm Brinded CBE, who retired from the board in July 2016.
Putnam, a chartered engineer, a fellow of the Institute of Civil Engineers and a fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, was most recently president and CEO of Skanska UK plc.
He has over 25 years’ experience in infrastructure development and construction and operational delivery, and will also sit on Network Rail’s safety, health and environment committee.
Sir Peter Hendy, CBE, Network Rail chair, said: “I welcome Mike who will bring valuable engineering experience to the Board.”
Putnam, who is non-executive director of Southern Water, will commence his new role from 8 January 2018.

The organisation has also announced two additional senior appointments to its executive committee.
It welcomes Alison Rumsey, who has been appointed as group human resources director, effective immediately.
