RoSPA recognises Giffen Group

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents has presented Giffen Group Plc one of its prestigious occupational health & safety awards. The gold award was presented at a special ceremony at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham at the end of May.

Dave Rawlings, RoSPA awards manager, said: “Giffen Group Plc has demonstrated how seriously they take health and safety management and are a fine example to many other companies. We would like to see more organisations following their lead".

The RoSPA awards follow two clear aims; reducing the numbers of accidents and amount of ill health at work, alongside recognising organisations that have strong health and safety management systems in place.

The president of RoSPA, Baroness Anne Gibson of Market Rasen, deputy president Lord Jordan of Bournville and vice-president, Lord Brougham & Vaux hosted the gala dinner for representatives of award winning organisations at the Hilton Metropole, with entertainment by comedian Jimmy Carr.

Giffen Group, a leading UK electrical installation, maintenance and engineering company, operates a commendable ‘think safe, work wise’ ethic. Established in 1909, it formulates its business practice around SHEQ-safety, health, environment and quality.

Jo Giffen, chairman of the Giffen Group, said; “This award is testament to the hard work and dedication of all of our staff. On behalf of everyone at Giffen I would like to thank RoSPA for recognising our concerted efforts. We remain committed to looking after our staff and leading the way in preventing accidents through successful safety management”.
