Scott Wilson wins Airdrie - Bathgate contract

Scott Wilson Group plc the international consultancy offering integrated professional services in the transportation, property, environment and natural resources sectors, is pleased to announce a major new contract with Network Rail for the detailed design of the Airdrie-Bathgate Rail Link.

The value of the new contract to Scott Wilson is expected to be up to £10.6 million over the next 12 months. The role of main works designer includes the provision of structural, geotechnical, station, track and depot design services.

The project will re-open the Airdrie-Bathgate passenger rail link after 50 years of closure as well as upgrading the existing Bathgate to Edinburgh and Airdrie to Drumgelloch lines. Work includes the reinstatement of 15 miles of track, two new stations, the relocation of an existing station and the upgrade and remodelling of existing lines and stations. Once complete, the line will be double-tracked and electrified throughout.

The £300m link will create a new direct service between Edinburgh in the east and Glasgow in the west, bringing considerable social and economic benefits to communities along the proposed route. The project is a major investment in Scotland’s public transport network and a key priority for Transport Scotland.
