Amey teams up with University for railway engineering apprenticeship
Amey Consulting has teamed up with Sheffield Hallam University to deliver a trailblazing Railway Engineering degree apprenticeship scheme to help attract new talent into the railway industry.
The new apprenticeship, announced during National apprenticeship week (3-9 Feb), will give 30 new students the chance to learn and earn at the same time, as they obtain a degree over the fully funded, five-year period.
College leavers applying for this degree will have a pathway choice between electrical and mechanical (E&M), civil and track (C&T) or signalling and telecoms (S&T) engineering.
During their time on the bespoke programme, students will also be able to work at Amey Consulting on real life engineering problems and live railway projects alongside their studies.

At the end of the five year course, students will obtain a Bachelor’s degree (B.Eng) in Railway Engineering, and will be equipped with enough experience and knowledge to register as n Incorporated Engineer (I.Eng) with the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET).

The apprenticeships will start with Amey in March, where students will receive support and mentoring throughout their studies to become a professional engineer.
