Step change
TfL has delivered significant improvements to the network over the last year, with efficiency savings well ahead of target and excessive pay constrained.
But while this should be commended, there is much further still to go.
The increased number of passengers brings with it new challenges of capacity and comfort, meaning all aspects of the service delivered must take a step up.
Additionally, inefficiencies in the system are increasingly unaffordable. Achieving ahead of schedule in terms of financial savings is no longer simply a nice bonus; it has become a necessity.
Now it is up to the rest of the industry to ensure they meet the high targets TfL has set and continue to improve ahead of the curve.
