By 2016, the rail network is likely to need about 2,000 skilled electrification engineers to meet the demand for new OLE across a number of lines.
This is thought to be about 10 times the industry’s current capacity.
So it’s good that there’s facilities like the Carillion Rail and SPL Powerlines site at Coatbridge, visited by rail minister Norman Baker MP this week, training the next generation of linesmen.
Now we just need far more…
