Six companies shortlisted to build 13 Crossrail stations
An invitation to tender has been issued for the design and construction of 13 stations on the western section of the Crossrail route.
Network Rail has issued invitations to Morgan Sindall, Costain, Geoffrey Osborne, Vinci, Balfour Beatty and Skanska.
New station buildings are required at Action Main Line, Southall, West Ealing and Hayes & Harlington. Major renovations are also needed at Ealing Broadway.
Improvements including new lifts, platform extensions, staff accommodation and minor architectural work are also needed at West Drayton, Maidenhead, Langley, Burnham, Slough and Iver.
The contracts are split into an inner section and an outer section, with companies invited to bid for one or other, or both. Contracts are expected to be awarded next spring.
Jorge Mendonca, Crossrail programme director at Network Rail, said: “Network Rail is transforming the railway to make Crossrail a success for the passengers who will use the service and the economic future of this region. We have developed our designs for the stations on the Western section, in order to provide better services for users and provide access to the communities served by the Crossrail route.”
