New route managing director for Wessex appointed

Network Rail has announced the appointment of a new managing director for its Wessex route.

From 1 November, Becky Lumlock will take over responsibility for the route, which includes Britain’s biggest railway station, Waterloo, and the commuter area to the south and west of London.

Services on the route are mainly operated by South West Trains.

Phil Hufton, Network Rail’s managing director for England and Wales, said: “I am pleased to welcome Becky to Network Rail. She has worked in a wide variety of senior leadership roles and served as a board director on several joint venture companies, including in the Middle East and the Americas.

“Her strong commercial background and the transferable skills she brings from her experience in the energy industry will be invaluable on this busy route.”

Lumlock currently works for Shell/BG as managing director of Dragon LNG, one of the major gas import terminals in the UK.

She will replace John Halsall, who will become managing director of the south east route.
