Footbridge plans considered for Lincolnshire level crossing
Network Rail is holding a consultation on plans to build footbridges in Lincolnshire to stop people misusing the level crossings.
Both pedestrians and motorists have been seen regularly trying to ‘beat the barriers’ at High Street and Brayford Wharfin Lincoln City Centre, with some even attempting to lift the barriers.
The level crossing is situated in a busy location, which may explain some of the reluctance to wait. Consultations will be held on June 1 and 2, with a consultation website also launching on June 1.
Phil Verster, route managing director for Network Rail, said: “We regularly see people rushing across the level crossings at Lincoln High Street and Brayford Wharfonce the warnings have started.
“We even have instances of people lifting the barriers. Clearly this behaviour is highly reckless and dangerous.”
