Battersea Power Station to be extensively redesigned for Northern Line extension

A new design for Battersea Power Station to accommodate an extension of London Underground’s Northern Line is underway.

At a meeting last night, Transport for London (TfL)’s finance and policy committee were asked to approve any supplemental agreements with the developer of Battersea Power Station’s over station development.

Board papers said the development had become “very different from that originally intended and contracted”, necessitating significant additional design work at Battersea Power Station.

The committee approved new authorities for the extension programme on 21 January 2016 and a revised design is now being developed, which will soon be agreed on by TfL and the Battersea Power Station developer, potentially allowing for changes to access, worksites and leases.

At the same meeting, the committee were also asked to authorise TfL to submit a proposal for a final fixed licencing price in order to commercially exploit the software used in its contactless payment systems.

As the new Northern Line Battersea station is to be built it be right close to Battersea Park railway station within walking distance. And possibly to extend the Northern Line to Clapham Junction to connect with London Overground, GTR Southern and South West Trains. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_line_extension_to_Battersea https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine_Elms https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battersea_Power_Station

The last paragraph is most significant. Does this mean that when I go to Manchester, Birmingham or Nottingham for example and want to use the trams or local trains, I will just get out a contactless bank card and touch in and touch out? I do hope so, as outside London, ticketing is so nineteenth century.
