EITCA launched to increase Channel freight
Eurotunnel has launched new funding support for operators looking to introduce intermodal rail freight services through the Channel Tunnel.
The EITCA (Eurotunnel Incentive for Capcity Additions) will help operators with the costs of marketing and service start-up, as well as controls at Frethun.
The fund will provide one-off financial support for start-up investments lasting for one year, and will be available to all rail operators.
Eurotunnel stated that it believes “its intrinsic strengths of efficiency and respect for the environment mean there is potential to further develop rail freight through the Tunnel”.
