Haywards Heath station plans approved

Plans to redevelop Haywards Heath station have been approved by Mid Sussex District Council. Solum Regeneration will deliver the £17m project to renovate the station building on the line from London to Brighton.

The transport interchange will be improved, and the exterior of the station will be refurbished with new signage, canopies and lighting, along with better pedestrian connections.

Work is due to start this summer, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2014.

Simon Rutter, regeneration director with Solum Regeneration, said: “The redevelopment of the area around Haywards Heath station is long overdue.”

The plan has been scaled down from a previous £200m scheme proposed by developer Thornfield, which also included 700 homes.

And they will fund most of it through parking charges - up 15% from the beginning of 2012. Southern are a disgrace.

No Moody - this is being paid for by the creation of a new Waitrose.
