Network Rail appoints new contracts and procurement director

Network Rail has announced that Andy Haynes has been appointed as its new contracts and procurement director.

Haynes has extensive experience in working for Network Rail, having most recently worked as project director on Network Rail’s Greater West programme. Haynes has been an employee at the infrastructure owner for over 16 years and over that time has served in a variety of roles including finance and commercial director and head of contracts and procurement.

Most recently Haynes helped to deliver many track and signalling projects on Western Route and was accountable for the commercial strategies and procurement of Reading station and Crossrail surface works.

Network Rail’s route services director, Susan Cooklin – who Haynes will report to directly as a member of the senior management team – said of Haynes’ appointment:  “Andy has had a prominent career in Network Rail and I am delighted he is joining Route Services to manage our commercial contracts and build stronger supplier relationships.”

Haynes will now lead the delivery of services contracts to Network Rail’s various devolved route businesses.  In the December/January issue of RTM, Haynes will be writing a story expanding upon Network Rail’s decision to devolve its route services to locally-based directors.
