YRP dinner and award ‘huge success’
The fourth Young Railway Professionals (YRP) annual Black Tie Dinner was the biggest ever, and included the first award for a Young Railway Professional of the Year.
The RTM team attended the dinner and dance in London on March 14, and heard from YRP chairman Martyn Chymera on the expanding organisation’s plans for the year, and from Terry Morgan, chairman of Crossrail.
Over 400 guests also supported the YRP’s Three Peaks Challenge team in their first fundraising attempt in aid of the Railway Children.
The event was sponsored by CPC Project Services, and the award was sponsored by Colas Rail. It is designed to celebrate young professionals at the start of their journey through the industry and was awarded to Lucy McAuliffe, station manager for Network Rail and assessor for their Track & Train graduate programme.
Chymera congratulated her on the award, and said: “Judging the award was not an easy task – so many high achievers from every corner of the industry were nominated and the quality of the nominations was outstanding.
“However, Lucy’s achievements really stood out, and her level of commitment and dedication to the railway industry was truly exceptional.”
