Future jobs in rail
There was good news for rail job seekers this week; Network Rail is planning to train up 1200 young people over the next five years.
Those who make it on to Network Rail’s apprenticeship programme are lucky on two counts; one to get a job at all in the current economic climate and two that they have got
onto what it generally known to be the most comprehensive rail engineering course in the land.
In o ther positive rail job news, the Scottish Government is coming under increasing pressure to reinstate the scrapped Glasgow Airport rail link.
If it were to be reinstated, it would be fantastic news for railway jobs; not just in the main contractors, but for subsidiary companies as well. This in turn would lead to an
all round positive affect on the local economy.
Therefore, I think that our respective governments need to start scrapping bureaucracy, not badly needed infrastructure projects which will feed our local economies, thus promoting economic growth.
