Some rail jobs are safe and some are not
There has been a double edged sword of news delivered
to those seeking rail jobs in Scotland this week.
There was jubilation at the news that plans to reopen the Edinburgh to Borders line have not been dropped, while feelings of recrimination at the news that the planned Glasgow airport link will be shelved.
There have been accusations of SNP favouritism towards Edinburgh, with many of Glasgow’s residents feeling hurt
that their link to a major international airport was shelved, especially as Glasgow is to host the Commonwealth
Games.
However many in the rail community will be happy that any rail infrastructure projects are going ahead at all, given the current economic climate.
After all, rail jobs are rail jobs, where ever they are…
