Silver lining

I think many of us by now have seen the new St Pancras ‘clouds’ (if not, here they are).

‘Cloud: Meteoros’ is a new artwork for the station by Lucy and Jorge Orta, suspended from the roof.

Opinion in the RTM office is slightly divided – some think the effect would work much better with a few more clouds hung up there, others like it a lot. Critical opinion elsewhere has been mostly positive, too. Jonathan Jones of the Guardian, for example, says it has bought the gothic roof “back to life” and says its quality shows up the rest of the station as a “rogue's gallery of bad public art”.
