The latest statistics from the ORR show that demand for rail continues to rise, with 1.23 billion journeys in 2011/12.
It’s great news for the industry, which is seeing huge growth and thousands of new jobs for aspiring recruits. It also provides significant motivation to bring Victorian infrastructure up to date and deliver services at a level of performance acceptable to all these new passengers.
Sustainable transport is essential to meet environmental targets, as well as boosting productivity and connectivity across the country. Can rail pull together to meet this new demand?
